Choosing typefaces, color and size can have a big impact on how your Web site or blog looks and what it communicates. The task of choosing workable, safe Web typefaces, leading, kerning, sizes and colors can be tedious as different combinations are viewed sequentially. Typesetter ( http://www.typetester.org), a free online tool, makes this task painless.

With three columns, Typesetter allows you to type or paste your chosen text and compare various combinations as you type. With immediate feedback, the look you desire surfaces much quicker and easier than working on a Web page or blog page alone. Once satisfied, you can easily copy the CSS of any column. Typesetter supports Mozilla Firefox Win/Mac/Linux 1.0+, Mozilla Camino 0.8+, Opera Win/Mac 8.0+, Safari 2.0+, Omniweb 5.1.1. and Internet Explorer Win 5.5/6.0/7.0 browsers. To use this tool, please ensure JavaScript is enabled in your browser. If you plan to return to use Typesetter, enabling browser cookies will retain your last settings (as long as you have not deleted the cookies before returning).

Using Online Volunteers in Special Events - An Amazing Experience

(download)

Most not-for-profit organizations still rely (only) on face-to-face volunteers to help plan, organize and execute their special events. However, Canadian-based charitable organization, Macdonald Youth Services (MYS), has demonstrated that Internet-based volunteers can play a key role in the success of special events.

"I have worked on a number of events in the past, but this is the first time that I have been able to work with virtual volunteers and it was an absolutely amazing experience", stated Event Co-ordinator, Julie Fine. "I had no idea the quality of work that was available and the variety that the virtual volunteers could provide, and I was constantly amazed as I worked over the past eight months on a number of projects, " continued Fine.

MYS extends their thanks to New York-based online volunteer Richard Wagner for editing the video. The 90 second Video is available for download from the above link.
